The Meteorite Photography and Recovery Project, also known as the Prairie Network, was created in 1962 and supported by a grant from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. The Prairie Network was a system of 16 automatic camera stations organized in the midwestern United States to acquire orbital and trajectory data on extremely bright meteors.
